Rather Severe

Our new mural for La Bonita Restaurant on Alberta St. , Portland OR. This wall was originally painted by us in 2016 for Clary Sage Herbarium, and it needed to be resurfaced in 2023, so we returned to paint a new mural in the same spirit as the last one. On the side of Blind Insect Gallery on 29 & Alberta.

We painted this mural on the historic ‘Pounder’ building in downtown Longview, Washington for the “Broad Strokes” mural project in July, 2023.

This mural is for the ‘Bee Well’ food truck in Jamaica, Vermont at the Bee Well Homestead next to Jamaica State Park.

We painted this mural for Experience Roseburg, in downtown Roseburg, OR. The mural is on the back side of North Forty Brewing. Thanks to Anvil Northwest for organizing the project!

We worked with Kaufman Development to paint our largest mural to date for the Gravity Project in Columbus, OH. We had the honor of painting alongside Brazilian artist ‘Kobra’ during the month of August, 2018. The Gravity Project has hired a bunch of artists with ties to the local Columbus art scene, and we were honored to be included among a really talented group of painters. This mural measures 212’ wide and 45’ tall, and is roughly 7000 square feet. Behr Marquee acrylic latex and Montana spray paint on concrete.

Had a lot of fun creating this Chicken & Egg Tessellation mural for the new ‘Fried Egg I’m In Love’ restaurant in Portland, OR in January, 2019. MC Escher has been a huge inspiration to both of us since we were kids, so it was cool to take a closer look at how the tessellations are conceptualized, and to have the freedom to come up with the concept for the restaurant wall ourselves. Thanks to Jace for his trust in our vision. This is the first tessellation mural we’ve made, but are definitely interested in pushing this concept further with future works. This particular tessellation is called a ‘rotation’ tessellation, and the basic shape begins as a square. It is possible to tessellate many equilateral shapes though, and we’re looking forward to working with more complex shapes for the next one.

Our mural honoring the native Bonneville Cutthroat Trout in South Salt Lake, for SLC MuralFest 2022. Thanks to Mike Feliz and Tatiana Camice for assistance creating this mural in just 5 days. It was an honor to paint alongside an incredible line-up of artists in this festival!

"Garden of Simulated Delights"

Here is our mural for Microsoft Cortana's A.I. office in Bellevue, WA. It features a myriad of artificial and natural intelligences, including but not limited to: Psychedelic Lion's Mane Mushroom Sasquatch, Beachball Snowman w/ Ice Cream Cone Face, Emergency Button w/ Sorry Surfer, Happy Trees, Golden Beak, Spark Plug guy, Meditating Eyeball w/ Magic Carpet, Graph Guy, Observer of the Great Beyond, Starfish in the Grass, etc... Super fun to come up with all kinds of weird stuff that was really fun to draw and paint.

We painted almost the entire exterior of the Mellow Mushroom Pizza Restaurant in Roanoke, Virginia in September, 2016. Painted with Montana spray paint and Sherwin Williams Latex on Dry-Vit. The mural is appx. 200 ft. long and 16 ft. tall, taking 17 work days to complete. We also got a photo with our friend Carole, who came by and visited us every day while we were painting and showered us with compliments. It was great to see her take such an interest in how the work developed, and to share stories with each other.

Had the honor of sharing our work on this piece with The Portland Farmers Market. This mural is on the outside of their box truck. My partner, Kaitlyn, has worked at the market for several years now, and I’ve had the honor of being connected with great local food vendors and organic produce through her job with Spring Hill Organic Farm. Felt really good to give back to such a wonderful community. Featuring strawberry, lettuce, beets, apples, carrots, red onion, peppers, and chanterelles.

Murals for Sunstone Montessori in SE Portland, OR.

Our mural for Clary Sage Herbarium in Portland, Oregon, painted in October of 2016. Aerosol and Latex on Concrete. 28 ft. wide by 15ft. tall. 

This mural project was curated by ‘And Art Space’ for Lumos Solar office in Boulder, CO in May, 2016. The owner of the building hired us to paint this wall, which had been raised recently, blocking their office windows from the view they had had of the Flatirons in the distance. The mural is 30 ft. tall by 36 ft. wide, and was painted over a 3 week period with exterior acrylic latex paint and brushes on Dry-Vit. We included some local fauna from the Boulder area, along with some more playful animals and a portrait of the owner’s dog ‘Millie’ in the bottom right corner. Based on the very narrow space between buildings, this mural was particularly challenging to photograph. The pictures taken from towards the top are from the roof looking down, and then the bottom pics are from ground level of the painting.

Mural completed for Mellow Mushroom in Portland, Oregon, in the Pearl, through permits from RACC and approval from the Pearl Neighborhood District Association.

We collaborated with Gabriel Marquez on this mural for Seattle’s SODO Track mural project in July, 2018. The mural is on the back of Peace Vans shop, measuring 186’ wide and 18’ tall. The design combines character elements by Gabriel Marquez and Jon Stommel on black and white, and a colorful background to contrast the character elements in the foreground.

Our mural for Archrival Agency in Lincoln, Nebraska. This mural too 11 days to paint, all spray paint on brick. The wall is 136 ft. wide, and around 20 ft. tall. 

This mural is part of Portland's 2014 Forest For The Trees Mural Project.The wall is at 3602 NE Sandy Blvd on the side of Pulse PDX, painted over a 6 day period. It was such a great honor to participate in the project and represent local artists in Portland!

We completed 3 murals for the Woodstock Street Art Project in Portland, Oregon. The project received grants from RACC and METRO Portland, as well as donations from local businesses. All 3 murals are on the corner of SE 46th and Woodstock St. 

This mural was painted in Interior Office Solutions new office space in downtown Portland, Oregon. The mural references Escher's impossible constructions with our own imaginary content intermixed throughout. The mural measures 20'x8', Latex and aerosol on drywall. 

We painted this Pacific Northwest forest scene in a local residential basement hangout area in Lake Oswego, September 2019. All acrylic latex on concrete.

Our completed mural "I Gave Myself Time" for Kaiser Permanente's FindYourWords.org campaign to break the stigma around talking about depression. We had the pleasure of collaborating with the foster / at-risk kids from ‘Color Outside the Lines’ on this project to fill in all the colors at standing height.

This mural was painted in Bellevue, Ohio, in May-June 2015 over a 33 day period. All the portraits included in the mural are of people who donated to the project or their loved ones, and all are local to the city of Bellevue. 

Office mural for Archrival Agency in Portland, OR.

This mural runs along the side of the playground at Prescott Elementary School in Northeast Portland. Appx. 35 feet long and 10 feet tall, combination of spray paint and exterior acrylic latex on concrete.

We painted this traveling food/coffee truck for Nectar Cafe in Portland, OR in April, 2018. It will travel around to different events in the area for catering. This is an old USPS diesel that they bought and transformed themselves into a really cool food truck. We tried to keep it pretty classy with an Art Nouveau / Alfonse Mucha inspired color palette. The colors are higher key and the line work is not as high contrast as a lot of our other pieces, which I think gave it a more sphoisticated feel. Their food and coffee is excellent, and Natasha and Forrest were incredibly sweet and great to work with.

This mural was painted in April 2016 on the side of MVP Dance Elite in Beaverton, Oregon. The mural celebrates cultural diversity through dance. 70 ft. wide by 12 ft. tall. Latex on concrete. 

We finally got the chance to paint a proper collaboration with our friend Mike Feliz on this mural for the Portland Trail Blazers, in partnership with Gallery IDL, in downtown Portland, OR in April, 2019. The mural kicked off their show ‘Gameday: A Poster Show’ for Design Week Portland. We all traded the drawing back and forth, as well as at the color design, so we each had an equal hand in creating the final image. We included the Max train, several crows, ferns, a slug, roses, the Wilamette, Trail Blazers gear, etc.

"Thermal Samsquanch Etc."

Our mural for FLIR Thermal Imaging at the MODA Center in Portland, OR. The design showcases various applications for FLIR's thermal imaging technology in modern society, including the monitoring of marine species, providing insight into plans of action for public safety, and perhaps one day discovering the truth about Sasquatch. The composition transitions between the standard color spectrum we see with the naked eye to the infrared vision available with FLIR's thermal imaging devices. The monitors installed on the wall display this technology in real-time, placing the viewer directly into the art piece. 

Our mural for C2K architecture’s office space in NW Portland, OR. Spray paint and exterior acrylic latex on cinder block.

We were awarded an opportunity from Denver Urban Arts Fund to paint this mural along the Cherry Creek Bike Path. The closest street intersection to the mural is at 11th and Speer. This was a really cool wall space and environment to contribute a piece of public art!

Clark County Mural Society gave us the opportunity to paint a mural in honor of the Chinook Tribe, in Vancouver Washington. We worked with the vice Chairman of the Tribe to draft the final design. This wall took 7 days from start to finish.This mural won First Prize in Clark County Mural Society's 2012 Summer of Murals Program! Visit www.ccmurals.org for more info.

We painted these murals for the grand opening of CityTarget Portland! There are a total of 10 canvases, each measuring 7'x8'. Each pair of canvases has imagery inspired by unique features from Portland's
5 districts (N, NE, SE, SW and NW). There was an open call for the community to submit Instagram images of different Portland based imagery to include in the paintings, and we used several people's Instagram submissions for imagery in the final pieces. All 10 canvases were painted between July 9th and the 22nd (13 days) inside the window display they're presented in. You can also see our sketches for the mural that were used used in Target's local advertising campaign for the store opening. 

We teamed up with Lloyd Eco District, City Repair, and Color Outside the Lines to create this street intersection mural in Portland, OR. The painting is on the corner of NE Clackamas Street and NE 2nd Street. The entire painting took only 2 days to complete. We designed the mural, primed and sketched the design onto the street, then had had the Color Outside the Lines crew come help us fill in all the colors. Everybody did an awesome job!

Our completed murals for Mellow Mushroom in Murrell's Inlet, South Carolina. All acrylic with brush on drywall. 

We painted this mural on the side of Sellwood Market in Sellwood, Oregon. Thanks to Darin Moran for connecting us with the building owners, and making this awesome time-lapse video of the painting for us! All spray paint on brick. Around 40' wide and 7' tall. 

This is our exterior mural for Anchor End Bakery & Restaurant in Northeast Portland, OR, painted in December, 2018. The design is inspired by Hungarian decorative art, and includes a pretzel and wheat to celebrate the food they offer.

We painted 4 stairwells and a recreational room in a local apartment complex in SW Portland, Oregon. Completed in July and August, 2016. Aerosol and latex on concrete. 

We painted one of the official pace cars for the 2016 Boston Marathon  live at the 2016 New England Auto Show!

Interior Murals for the Mellow Mushroom in New Albany, Ohio, just outside of Columbus. 

We painted this mural with the help of the entire 3rd grade class at Daffodil Valley Elementary School. We collaborated with the kids on all the fish at the bottom of the mural. Painted over a 5 day period in 2015. 

Painted inside Blink Optometrists in Southeast Portland. 

These murals adorn the entryway to Patrick Lynch Elementary School in Southeast Portland, OR. The paintings reference a handful of countries and cultures that the school’s current student body came from. Imagery includes a Chinook Native American Salmon, Winged Isis from Ancient Egypt, Eagle with Snake from Mexico, Dragon from Thailand, Ethiopian basket patterns, Djembe drum from West Africa, and Russian Matryoshka Dolls.
